How long have you been at Langtons?
I joined in January 2021 so 4 years now. I completed my training with Langtons and qualified ACA in January 2024.
What’s your role?
I have just been promoted to assistant audit and accounts manager. On the audit side this includes, planning and executing audits, reviewing audit work and assisting my junior colleagues. I also complete some of the more tricky parts of the audit fieldwork. On the accounts side, I’m starting to build a client portfolio for companies which I complete their annual accounts for.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is getting to see how different businesses function by going to client sites. This means that each week you could be at a different site with a different company who are in a different industry and with different colleagues on the audit team, so you get to work with a range of people. No day is the same. As you go to the same audit jobs year on year, you build relationships with the company directors and by understanding their operations, you can provide insight to add value to their business. I also love working with my colleagues. The managers and partners are always happy to help and value the work you do. This creates a supportive culture which I pass on to the juniors by mentoring and guiding them, helping them to grow in their careers.
Why did you choose the profession?
My dad is a director of a company and when they had the auditors in one year, he thought that it may be a good fit for me since I’ve always enjoyed problem solving and working with numbers. I did a week volunteering in that company, which was a big four accountancy firm, and really enjoyed it so I decided to pursue this career path when I finished university.
